Building Character

Elfbound as a brand is born of many facetted hobbies and creative endeavours. More than most however, concept art is at it's core. Much of the universe that surrounds our illustrations is imagined through fantastical designs of characters, creatures and the vast worlds around them. 

In the time between our last release we've been working hard behind the scenes to flesh out more of the Elfbound universe and its bold characters that live within. Here are just a couple of concept artworks that have helped influence the brand so far. Top of the page is our 'Knights of Threadlight' mood piece. Here we were striving for a vibe rather than specific details. Images like this just feel cool and help influence a direction we want to take or a story to write. Bottom of the page are two concepts for Sereth (left) an elf-folk and one of the elusive and ancient Elfbound (right). These images are little more detailed as we push the design language and define the look of specific characters or species in the universe.

Aside from these, many other concepts were made and although the majority were not used, or landed in a place we felt was too far from the Elfbound vision, they all had an important part in defining how Elfbound looks today.
